Lotions & PotionsFor a sexy and sensual time, why not try some "love enhancements." We'll give you the lowdown. Massage Oils For a perfectly relaxing night, after a shower or bath, or to add something extra to your usual foreplay; massage oils may be the way to go. Available in a wide variety of flavors, fragrances and thicknesses, massage oils glide on the skin for that perfect caress. To use massage oil, pour a small amount in the palm of your hand and rub your hands together to warm, before applying to your lover's body. Don’t stop at the back, sensually rub your partner's every limb down with oil. Reapply as necessary. Besides giving your partner an erotic treat, you’ll both enjoy the slippery slide during intercourse. If you're new to massage products, try several small bottles so you can sample oils and form a preference before committing to a larger purchase. We don't recommend using massage oils as a sexual lubricant, since they're not condom-safe. They are also a little thick and can irritate sensitive skin. Keep the oil away from genitals unless the bottle specifically says the product is safe for internal use. The chemicals used to infuse the oils can irritate sensitive skin. Most flavored massage oils are non-toxic and safe to ingest in small quantities. However, make sure you read the bottle before you go licking massage oil off your lover's back. Be warned, many massage oils can stain and these stains can be difficult to wash out. Designate a separate set of sheets, blanket, or something you don’t mind sacrificing for pleasure. Massage Lotion Massage Lotion moisturizes, lubricates, and soothes skin and is similar to regular body lotion. It is absorbed more quickly than oil. If you or your partner have oily or acne prone skin you may want to try massaging lotion rather than massage oil. Massage lotions are used essentially the same way as oils. First rub the lotion between your hands, and then apply to your partners’ body with long smooth strokes. You'll need to reapply lotions more often than oils as lotions are usually absorbed more quickly. Also, unlike oils, lotions can usually be rejuvenated with a spray of water from a bottle, making the texture more slippery. Like massage oils, lotions are not safe to use with latex products, such as sex toys or condoms. Also, massage lotions should never be used internally, for activities such as vaginal or anal play. Be warned: lotions are not usually formulated to be edible (which is different than non-toxic) and can taste terrible. You may want to avoid oral experimentation unless you're using a product formulated for oral play. Check the lotion bottle for specific details and warnings. Warming Oils Warming oils are cool when applied to the skin, and then warms with stimulation. The touch of a hand, rubbing, or blowing on them will warm the oil. These oils are great for foreplay. It is best to apply these types of oils to small areas at first, to allow your partner to adjust to the stimulation; massage them into the inner thighs, the backs of the knees, or the small of the back and then gently blowing on the oil--instant heat! Warming oils can also stain fabric and tend to be heavier scented than their non-warming counterparts. Body Dusts Body dusts have a smooth and silky texture and are especially fun when applied with a feather tickler, which is usually included. They come in a delicious array of scents and flavors, such as chocolate, berry, honey and vanilla. Dust it on with the delicate feather applicator for a dry massage and lick it off for a sensuous treat. We think body dusts are great! They usually talc or cornstarch based powder, sprinkle, dust, or rub onto the skin. We suggest picking up one that’s edible. Body Paints Body paints can be great fun and an interesting way to explore your lover's body. Long strokes feel the best, using a brush or your bare hands. Paint anywhere that will arouse your partner; like the stomach or inner thighs or other hot spots. Spell sexy words on your partners’ body and have them guess before rubbing it in. You can also try Liquid Latex for an instant, paint-on skin-tight outfit. The most important thing is to make it FUN! And don't forget to use old sheets! Chocolate Chocolate is messy and sticky, but it's fun and yummy! Spread it everywhere and lick it off! Experiment with different consistencies and textures. Chocolate syrup is fun but can turn into a runny mess. Chocolate frosting may be a little work distributing, but frosting your lovers’ body really can’t be considered work. Find the form of chocolate that’s right for you and your partner, be it chocolate powder or pudding. Depending on the form of chocolate you experiment with, it can be a difficult substance to wash off the skin. You and your lover may be in or some fun scrubbing each other down after the event. Also, beware of any substance containing sugar entering the vagina. Given that yeast thrives on sugar, this may trigger a yeast infection. A night of fun shouldn’t cause a trip to the doctor. And again, the sheets. Arousal Balms Arousal Balms are meant for use on sensitive parts of the body, such as nipples, genitals, and thighs. They are available in such flavors as cinnamon and mint. When applied they tingle and then warm the skin; changing from a tingling sensation to a warming sensation. It's best to start with a very small amount on a sensitive area, then check how responsive your lover is to the sensations before using more balm. Ice Yes, ice, straight from the freezer is my personal favorite. Use your imignation! Whatever substance you choose to experiment with, remember, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
